Good Lord, long time no blog!  So much has been going on I don’t know where to start.  Hmmm… I’ll start with the leg drama.

As my doctor has put it, I’ve turned the corner.  I’m not sure what corner he’s talking about because last time I checked I still have a big ol’ open wound on my lower right leg. It has gotten smaller but man is it still there.  I’m focusing on the getting better part and not so much the still part.  The doctor seems to think I’ll be better by the end of the year.  I’m betting it will be closer to my birthday in February.  As long as it gets better before my awesome cruise in May I don’t care.  🙂

What next.  I swear it seems like when life is going really well I forget all about this blog thing.  Work is going really well. I’ve fallen in love with my job again and have caught up from being gone so much with my leg.  🙂  There are lots of rumors flying around the office that we all may be moved to either Atlanta or Dallas.  I’m hoping for Dallas but if we do get moved I’ll go wherever they want me to go.  Birmingham has run its course and I’m ready to leave.

What else.  OH!  So I found out yesterday that I need glasses.  Well kinda.  LOL  I’ve been on a lot of steroids for my leg and over the past week or two I’ve noticed that my eyes have been really blurry after taking my medicine in the morning.  So last week I decided that I needed to have my eyes checked.  The last time I had my eyes checked I was in 4th  grade and the doctor told me I had almost bionic vision.  I kept telling myself that over the next 25 or so years.  HA!  I’ve been paying for my vision coverage for the past 8 years.  It’s about time I finally used it.  So last week I called and made an appointment.  Monday at 2:30.  I got there a little after 2 and filled out my paperwork.  After about 10 minutes they called back Mrs. Milligan.  Oh Mrs. Milligan.  She was probably 80 and had a walker.  Back she goes!  About 5 minutes later they called me back.  Into a little dimly lit room I go.  I covered my let eye.  HBDCZ  NO PROBLEM!  HA!  I’ve got this!  Ok…time to cover my right eye.  Holy shit, where’d the letters go?  I was asked to read the line the furthest down that I could.  I got to line 3 and my world went blurry.  This was new.  Tech left and about an hour later the doctor came in.  She had been with Mrs. Milligan.  I knew this because they were in the room next to me and I could hear Mrs. Milligan rambling on and on and on about her cats, her arthritis, her walker, her eyes.  Dear Lord that woman was on a roll and was holding the eye doctor captive!  Anyway, Doc came in.  Looked at my eyes and put the weird glass thingy in front of me.  Read a bunch of letters.  After saying 1, 2, 2, 1, the same, the same, the same, the same, 1, I was told that my right eye has perfect vision but I have an ever so slight astigmatism in my left eye.  Then she told me that I could get contacts for just my left eye since my right eye didn’t need anything. Y’all…my mind went wild with ideas.  Do I have to get normal contacts or can I get colored contacts?  If I can get colored do they have to be the same color?  Can I have one brown eye and one blue eye one day and then one brown one green the next?  I settled on getting glasses instead….this time….Janurary, LOOK OUT!  I’m gonna be the next Left Eye! I just hope to live a long happy life and not set anyone’s house on fire.

Anyway, the tech came back in and put numbing stuff in my eye.  I was all ready for the puff of air test that I remembered.  It was not to be.  This place uses the blue circle gonna touch your eyeball test.  Luckily for me, touching my eye has never bothered me.  I sat there as that blue circle got closer and closer and then it was just a big blue light.  No problem!  Off to pick out frames.  I’d never done that before and was really glad that the tech and the frame lady helped me pick out a pair I really liked.  At least I think I did…my eyes were still WAY dilated and I could barely see in the bright ass room.  I’ll find out in a week and a half if I really like them or not!

So what else has gone on in Maggie’s world.  I met up with a guy from the beginning of the year again.  We’ve hung out a few times and both decided that we will be great friends but not much else.  I’m SO ok with this.  He’s a really great, fun guy and I like hanging out with him quite a lot but romantically, it’s just not there.  And I’m SO OK with this.  Why?  I’m a little hesitant to say.  Let’s just say I’ve met a man and we are talking and he’s really sweet, really nice, has muscles for DAYS, and pretty much like all of the same things. I don’t want to jinx this so I’m not going to say much more.  I will say that I’m incredibly happy right now for so many reasons.  One of them just happens to be because this guy makes me smile and gives me butterflies.  OK no more talk about him.  He’s off-limits and I’m not gonna talk about him on this anymore.

I’m going to be going home for Thanksgiving for the first time in probably 4 years.  I’m really excited about that.  Looking forward to seeing my parents, sister and her kids, the BIL and all of my cousins.  I have the best family.  I’m so lucky to have them.  I also have two trips to Memphis planned in December.  My cousin Carol is getting married and so I’ll be home for the bachelorette party.  We’re riding around Memphis on a bus y’all.  It’s gonna be awesome until I have to puke.  LOL I’m sure there will be lots of stories about that night.  Staying here with my sister and her family for Christmas since I don’t have any time off and then back to Memphis for Carol’s wedding the last weekend of December.  Should have a few stories about that too.  🙂

Oh my goodness!  I almost forgot! SWARLEY ATE A BEE AND ALMOST DIED!  Well, he didn’t almost die but it was traumatic for him and I was scared he was going to die.  Here’s what happened.  I was out in the back yard playing with the dogs and talking on the phone.  There was a bee and a wasp in a death match wrapped up in a circle of carnage and the dogs were trying to get it.  I kept telling them to get away and then I saw the circle of death on Swarley’s face.  Then….he ate it…and immediately started hacking and coughing and trying to throw up.  Then he threw up and kept breathing funny.  So I called the vet.  Hey, my dog ate a bee, do I need to be worried?  Um…you can give him some Benadryl or you can bring him in.  Why don’t you bring him in.  I got there in like 2 minutes.  The vet looked at him and told me I was lucky he isn’t a smushed face dog like a pug because he might not have made it.  His throat had already started to swell up.  A cortisone and Benadryl shot and $100 later we were home and I was keeping an eye on his collar to make sure he didn’t swell and choke to death on his collar.  He’s ok now.  🙂  My brave little bee eater.  I hope he’s learned his lesson.

So that’s all I’ve got for now.  I’m back in the land of the living.  Enjoying life more than I ever have and loving every second of it.  🙂  Until next time children.  🙂
